It's election day...2012

As I'm sure most of you are fully aware...it's Tuesday, November 6, 2012 & that means that its election day.  I've been noticing that a lot of people have the day off, schools are closed & there's pretty much nothing on TV so there is no reason that everyone should not get out there & exercise their right to vote for what or who they believe in.

I'm not the most informed person around when it comes to politics but I know enough to feel confident in who I am voting for as President.  It's the local election that I have a harder time with as I grew up in a different county than I live in now & the majority of my friends & family all still live in that county as well so I still have no idea what's going on in this one.  I don't vote in local elections because I honestly don't really care, if things get hairy I can just move to the other side of the street & I'll be back in the county I used to live in...if I had kids &/or owned a home I'd definitely pay attention to local government but I don't have kids & I rent.  However, when it comes to the leader of our nation I do care as everyone should & when I hear people say they aren't going to vote it just tells me that they are too lazy to do a little research, especially with the internet it's not that difficult to find out who stands for what.  In the past (before I had internet) I used to pick 3 things I felt very seriously about & would see who agreed with me & vote that way but as I get older I care about more things like healthcare, job creation, renewable energies, environmental responsibility, gay rights & a lot more so I pay more attention to politics in an ongoing basis.

The worst part about elections is all the damn proposals...I spent at least 4 hours studying these damn proposals to figure out how I wanted to vote.  They are worded so crazy that half the time a no vote indicates a yes response so now I have a cheat sheet with everything written down so when I walk into that little booth I can't be confused again.  In case you are feeling the same way I was I'm going to share some links with you to help you find your polling place, get a ride to the polls if you need one, information on the proposals & anything else you might need to help you get your vote on in Michigan...the polls are open 7 am to 8 pm!  If you need a ride to the polls Google your city & "rides to the polls" to see if any of your local churches or community organizations are providing free rides.
