The Americans premieres tonight on FX

First, I meant to post this yesterday but I wanted to say how sad it was to hear that Mary O'Connor, Hugh Hefner's assistant of more than 40 years had passed away.  Those of use who watched Girls Next Door grew to love Mary & her wonderful advice & outlook on life so I can't imagine how difficult this is for all of those who were close with her.  I hope that all of those who loved her can find peace in each other during this difficult time.  To read more about this & see some of the girls comments click here.

At 8:00 on CBS it's the special Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials 2013 and then at 9:00 on Spike TV it's the 4th season premiere of Auction Hunters, and then on Travel it's the one hour special Tailgate Takeover.  Up at 9:30 on Cooking it's the 3rd season finale of Extra Virgin.

The Americans premieres on FX at 10:00, on Spike TV it's the 2nd season premiere of Savage Family Diggers, on Style it's the special Hollywood House Calls with Cat Deeley, Top Chef has a special 75 minute episode on Bravo which means that WWHL won't start until 11:15 tonight.  Style also has another special Celebrity Closet Confidential at 10:30.

My head is pounding today but I'm still excited about TV tonight...if I end up sick that's why I have a DVR right?  First up at 8:00 on HGTV check out the 4th season premiere of Property Brothers, on NBC The Voice has a new two hour episode on a special night & on REELZ it's the original miniseries finale of A World Without End.

Up at 9:00 Life After Top Chef moves to its new time slot on Bravo and then at 9:30 on Cooking it's the 3rd season premiere of Extra Virgin.  At 10:00 on TruTV it's the 3rd season premiere of Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, on SyFy it's the series premiere of Deals from the Darkside, on Discovery it's the 2nd season premiere of Moonshiners, on Comedy it's the 16th season finale of South Park, on NGW check out the series premiere of Stranger than Nature & then on Bravo it's the 10th season premiere of Top Chef which takes place in Seattle.  I think this season starts the same as the last one where the chefs have to compete to make the show in the first episode & this time they are competing in Wolfgang Puck's kitchen

My Crazy Obsession Premieres

Tonight at 9:00 on ID is the 2nd season premiere of Nothing Personal & on Bravo is the Top Chef reunion special.  At 10:00 on ABC in place of Revenge which is off for a few weeks is the special Revenge For Real: Murder in the Hamptons & the Science channel airs its 1st finale of Prophets of Science Fiction. There are a few series premieres that are also on at 10, on Discovery you can check out Doomsday Bunkers, on Bravo is  Million Dollar Listing NY, and on TLC is My Crazy Obsession!  At 10:30 head over to TV Land for the 2nd season premiere of Happily Divorced.

And the Top Chef Winner is....

Paul & I'm so happy about that...I chose him as my favorite about half way through.  Congrats Paul & Sarah both for making it all the way to the end.

Top Chef Finale!!

Tonight at 7:00 tune to Speed for the 9th season premiere of Pass Time.  Up at 9:00 on NatGeoWild is the first season finale of Maneater Manhunt while Discovery has the 4th season premiere of Sons of Guns.

At 10:00 tonight is the season finale of Top Chef Texas & we are down to Paul Qui & Sarah Grueneberg & I am rooting for Paul to be the winner of season 9.  Not only is he a better chef but I prefer his attitude toward others & I tend to lean toward my favored personality more than my favored foods.  Sarah has definitely made way more food that I would personally eat than Paul has but she was really rude to Beverly who granted was annoying but Sarah talked to her like she was 5 & Beverly was a great chef.  I also don't like the fact that Sarah missed so much of that BBQ challenge while she was in the hospital due to the heat which everyone was exposed to & cooking in so it was her own fault for not staying hydrated & listening to her body to begin with.  I can't wait to see the outcome!!

Top Chef is back!

Top Chef is back & this time, they're in Texas.  Unlike past seasons where they were in a city this time it's a state so I don't know if they will be moving around or are filming in such a small city they had to say Texas because nobody would know where they were otherwise. This season, along with the usual Gail Simmons, Tom Colicchio & Padma Lakshmi there will be 2 other judges added to the mix & I assume they will be rotating because there's usually only 4 judges.  Those 2 extra judges are Emeril Lagasse & Hugh Acheson (who I don't care for) so I'm curious to see what the new dynamic is setup like.  

Tune in tonight at 10 to Bravo & see if they really do, do it bigger in Texas!
 

Busy night for TV...though I wish the sitcoms were new!!

Tonight at 9:30 on FOX we have Breaking In premiering & also premiering at 10:30 on Comedy Central is Workaholics.  At 11:00 head on over to Bravo! for the new season of Top Chef Masters hosted by Curtis Stone.  If you are a Top Chef fan make sure to tune in to Bravo! at 10:00 for the Top Chef All-Stars reunion which I hear is quite intense & I can't wait...you know, if you are watching something else then you should probably record this.
 

The winner of Top Chef All Stars is....

Richard Blais & I'm so happy about this outcome.  Mike was a pretty sore loser which bugged the crap out of me when they announced Richard as the winner but come on...Richard is a far better chef than Mike all the way around.  Initially I was rooting for Trey or Carla but once they were both gone & it was down to the final three I didn't care who won so long as it wasn't Mike & it wasn't!

Now I might not be a Mike fan but I'm telling you, that meat with the pepperoni sauce looked so damn good I could practically taste it through the TV.  I would also like to put out there the fact that these chefs never have a dessert ready to go...especially with these chefs who have been on the show before, how could they not have 5 ready to go desserts when they arrive?  Personally, when Richard said he was making Captain Crunch ice cream I was so excited but when he switched it to the foie gras ice cream it ruined the whole meal for me but I wasn't eating it anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter!  I also thought Mike's dessert looked gross but gelatinous isn't my thing at all.

So a big congrats to Richard on his win, he totally deserved it & now I'm looking forward to Curtis Stone hosting the all new season of Top Chef Masters which premieres Wednesday, April 6th at 11:00 after the Top Chef All Stars finale.  I saw a clip of the finale last night & Tom & Elia really get into it about the smack she was talking about Tom online...awesome!!
 

And the winners are....

Last night we had 2 big season finales for reality TV & first up was the Big Brother finale which came down to Hayden & Lane...the winner walked away with a cool $500,000 while the runner up got $50,000 & honestly neither prize is all that shabby!  The big winner was Hayden with Lane coming in as the runner up but it was a close one...4 to 3 vote.  Britney (whose whom unfortunately burned down the night before) ended up winning fan favorite & took home another $25,000 on top of the $10,000 she won in the house so congrats to her as well!

Next up was the season finale for Top Chef & it came down to Ed, Angelo, and Kevin & the only person I didn't want to win was Angelo and thankfully he didn't win!  Angelo was down for the count the first day & was extremely ill & had to phone in his menu to his sous chef Hung who really kept things moving in Angelo's absence.  I didn't dislike Angelo enough for me to want him not to be able to compete but it was nice seeing him sick just because he had such a poor attitude so to me it seemed like karma.  Anyway, the other former winners who came to also be sous chefs were Michael V who worked with Kevin & Elan who worked with Ed.  All 3 cheftestants had to use the same proteins in their dishes so it was a very fair competition but in the end my choice ended up winning & that person was Kevin!!!
 

Top Chef D.C. starts tonight!

Eric Ripert is the new judge on the show which is pretty sweet...I thought he'd be replacing someone but after reading about the new cast he's just a 4th judge.  Anyway, if you want to read more about the cheftestants then click here otherwise just tune it to Bravo! at 9 PM & see for yourself.

After Top Chef you might be interested in the new show Hot In Cleveland which stars Valerie Bertinelli, Wendy Malick, Jane Leeves & the hilarious Betty White!  Not exactly a guys type show but it premieres tonight on TV Land at 10 PM.
 

Top Chef Finale

Well, I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in the outcome of this season of Top Chef!  I kind of had a feeling pretty early on in last night's episode that my choice (Kevin) wasn't going to win & at that point I became ok with Bryan winning & then when it all came down freaking Michael won?  I mean sure Michael is a talented chef & has all kinds of cook techniques but he's a bit of a prick & a little too arrogant for my liking.  It's been proven that on this show arrogance will you get you very far & often all the way (look at Hung) but I still don't like the bad attitude. I know that Michael won a lot of challenges & made some innovative dishes but I also know that he didn't make many friends & there was an episode where another chef came in that he had worked with in the past & it was mentioned that they didn't get along.  Well, even though it's a competition you have to make friends & try to get along with everyone because that's not a solo industry.  If you don't have a sous chef & fry cooks then you don't have shit in your kitchen other than a poor ego. 

I think I'm most disappointed because I really liked Kevin's food, I would eat a lot of it & I'm a picky eater, and I really liked his attitude.  Kevin smiled often, he stood by his food, he seemed happy to be cooking & worked well with others.  I also felt that Bryan had a good attitude & was pleasant & worked well with others I just didn't care for his food...too much seafood which I don't eat.  Really, you show me a menu with fish & pork & I'm going pork all the way!  Well, like I said Michael is a great chef just not my choice but I can't wait for the reunion...I'm almost positive that Kevin will win fan favorite, just based on the text polls last night, he got 54% when Bravo asked "who do you want to win Top Chef"!!!
