Mad Men premiere...let's discuss

Spoilers ahead!!  Mad Men never fails to shake us in the very last moments of the season premiere! I never saw that coming with Don banging the neighbor woman, not even for a second. Given his past I suppose I probably should but seeing him in Hawaii with Megan things seemed really good with them. Speaking of Hawaii it cracks me up that even when Don woke up in the middle of the night to go down to the bar he was still in a suit coat.  Now, with Megan...it's probably very hard for Don that she's working full time on a soap which is probably why he's cheating on her...we all know that he can't handle not being the center of attention.  I wouldn't be disappointed if they ended...she bugs me, her teeth & the way she talks because of those teeth really bugs the crap out of me.

Circling back to the neighbors I thought it was pretty amusing and alarming to see a doctor partying all night for New Years Eve and then jumping on skis to go save someone's life. If I'm not mistaken he is a heart surgeon and that's what freaked me out most.

Now on to Betty I was surprised to see that she is still fat Betty... It's clear that time has passed Sally is older the boys are older and I just figured that Betty would be thin again by now. The bit with her chasing after Sally's friend to that run down crack house was kind of stupid if you ask me but I'm sure it will somehow circle back.

Now let's move to Roger...when his assistant came into the office & said she had terrible news I assumed that Burt was dead. Obviously I was happy to find out that he wasn't though I felt bad that Rogers mom had passed. Later when Roger broke down after he heard that the shoeshine guy had died it broke my heart.

Roger of course brings us to Joan and her tits looked ridiculous & like torpedoes in that purple suit!!

Now on to my girl Peggy...she's totally going to have an affair with her boss Ted.  When she was working on NYE & was on the phone with Stan who was also working & he was listening to her conversation with Ted he could hear it just with the way Ted was talking to her.  I felt bad that all of the "little people" were working on New Years Eve...that sucks!!

I can't wait to see what this season has in store for us as it proceeds.

Year end wrap up

Every year I like to do my wrap up of television faves & this year will be a short one...I have to say that 2012 was not the best year of television in my opinion.  I stopped watching more shows than I started watching so this will be a fairly short post.

Favorite season of a drama I already watch - Breaking Bad
Least favorite season of a drama I already watch - True Blood
Favorite season of a comedy I already watch - Raising Hope
Least favorite season of a comedy I already watch - How I Met Your Mother
Favorite season of Real Housewives - Beverly Hills
Least favorite season of Real Housewives - New Jersey
Favorite season of a reality show - Chicagolicious
Least Favorite season of a reality show - Giuliana & Bill
Show I will probably ditch in 2013 - Glee
Show I pay for that I'm most looking forward to in 2013 - toss up between Girls & Shameless
Network/basic cable show I'm most looking forward to in 2013 - Mad Men
Show I'm most sad will be ending in 2013 - Breaking Bad
New show I'm looking forward to in 2013 - The Following

That pretty much sums it up...I would like to add that I don't miss any of the shows I gave up this season one bit...I've found plenty to replace it!!

Holy Mad Men...we must discuss

Did you guys see this past Sunday's episode of Mad Men?  It was such a good episode I wanted to be sure to touch base on here & say what I thought.  This episode was very poignant for so many reasons but I must say that I really wish Peggy were still there for this slam to the gut that we all experienced.  I feel bad for Don first of all because he was the one who pulled the trigger on the gauntlet here and this is going to send him into a completely new tailspin I think.  This, in my opinion was so similar to what happened with Don's brother I think it will bring a lot of old shit up with him & we very well may learn even more dark history there.  Now, I also felt so bad for Lane...because of his poor judgment he got screwed & when he tried to off himself with the Jaguar...the piece of shit car wouldn't even start!  That car brand was supposed to fix everything that had happened with the downfall of the company & give him the opportunity to make things right but even when the brand new car that his wife bought him only needed to start to help Lane out it wouldn't even do that. When Don, Pete & Roger went in there to cut him down I was flabbergasted over the whole thing.  That scene seemed to go on for an hour to me, those poor guys having to do that, Don being the only one who knows what the hell happened & then the resignation letter...standard boilerplate...I can't imagine that was all he left behind.  I'm curious to see what Joan receives in the mail next week & I have a feeling that Don is going to see Lane's wife, that poor woman was uprooted to NY from London & didn't like it & now she's all alone.

I felt really bad for Joan as well, she was so upset & rightfully so & especially since the conversation they had the prior day wasn't the best I'm sure she felt even worse.  Watching her try to get Lane's door open I instantly knew what was going on but I will say that I'm glad that she didn't actually see him when she discovered that something was up.

I also wanted to discuss Sally & her period & creepy Glen.  First of all, Glen is one creepy kid & you know that the person calling Megan & not saying anything has to be him, he used to do that to Betty & let's not forget that he also asked her for a lock of her hair...and she gave it to him which is a completely different story!  I think Betty was so happy when Sally got her first period & went home to her & then hugged her because she didn't go to Megan...the young, cool, hip girl that Sally seems to prefer for almost everything else.  When Betty crawled up into bed with her and was talking to her about having her own daughter someday I knew she was trying to bond with her but while I think Sally was happy she was there she was also really upset & felt mortified.

I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in the season finale & I really hope we get to see what Peggy is up to & she isn't just gone from the show now.

Mad Men Recap

First of all let me say how excited I was to see Don & Peggy again...it was a long year without them & it seems that the show itself jumped ahead about 8 months since Joan's baby is a little older, Gene is a toddler, and Don & Megan seemed pretty well settled into their new apartment & Pete & his wife are all nestled away in Connecticut & I know she's a new mom & all but she looks like shit.  I did notice that MJ from Desperate Housewives is the new Bobby & because I was paying so much attention to him I apparently missed the mansion that Betty & hubs are now living in.

I love Peggy as Megan's boss, I have a feeling this could end up becoming a good story line but I don't really see Megan as much of a Jr. Copywriter to be honest.  The surprise party was interesting to say the least...I felt bad for Don when Megan did her little performance, she looked like a fool & he looked mortified.  Not that she was bad but she still made a spectacle & Don isn't really much of an attention grabber to begin with.

The Roger/Pete thing was classic...Roger is now nobody since he lost Lucky Strike & poaching Pete's clients so I thoroughly enjoyed the 6 am setup & he fell for it too, that was great.  Pete is the biggest weenie & drives me crazy but watching him put Roger in his place was really good as was Peggy pawning Joan's baby off on him which kind of put Pete in his.

I'm looking forward to what the rest of the season will bring & I was surprised that for a 2 hour season premiere there isn't much to report so I hope it picks up soon...as does SCDP I'm sure...with everyone just hanging out & reading the paper & missing meetings it's no wonder Roger has nothing going on.

Mad Men is back, it's freaking back!

Tonight at 9:00 on AMC is the 2 hour season premiere of Mad Men...after waiting over a year for a new season I think we are all ready for this.  I cannot wait to see where the season picks up & what is going on with everyone...it's like Christmas or something.

Mad Men delayed = me pissed!!

Season 5 of Mad Men is being delayed until early 2012 due to issues with negotiations between the network, the creator (Matthew Weiner) and Lionsgate (the production company).  AMC has given production the go ahead & the negotiations at hand are non-cast related.  This is going to pose a major issue for me in my TV viewing habits because Sunday happens to be the busiest night of TV for me but having this one in the late summer to early fall was a huge help in that arena.  My DVR can only record 2 things at once which leaves me watching one of my (non pay channel) shows on my little 19 inch TV in my bedroom & that show will likely now have to be Mad Men & likely for the whole season rather than just a few episodes, boo!!  I need my Don Draper fix dammit.

Here's the full article on The Wrap if you would like to read it.

Mad Men season 4 ends

Last night was the season finale of Mad Men & what a disappointment that was...not the episode but the fact that the season ended!  It's like True Blood, 12/13 weeks of fun & then gone & while I enjoy the fact that there's no reruns & no weeks where the show isn't on (aside from maybe 1 or 2 for awards shows) I hate the fact that now I have to wait 9 months for it to start again.

Spoilers galore from this point on.  Did anyone else think it was a dream when Don proposed to Megan?  That's one thing I don't like about this show...the way it just skips huge portions & then splices you into something else.  One minute the kids, Don, and Megan are getting ready to head to Disney Land in California & the next thing you know she is in his bed at home in New York & he's proposing to her with the ring that Anna left him which was the ring that Don gave her.  I honestly don't know if I'll be able to handle Megan as Mrs. Don Draper...her & those damn teeth, ugh!  I also felt super awful for poor Faye when Don called & told her that he was getting married to someone else & I think the thing that upset me most about him choosing Megan is the fact that she doesn't know who he really is & Faye did.  Don is obviously most comfortable being Don & not Dick & since his last connection to Dick is gone I think he feels as though he can go back to the guy he was with Betty...a total douche bag who lives a lie.  Can you imagine poor Faye getting that call?  One minute you think you have a boyfriend & the next minute he's telling you that he fell in love with someone else & he's getting married?  I'd go crazy!  If you didn't see the proposal, you can check it out here in this behind the episode recap:

When Don & Megan announced the news to everyone it was pretty obvious that they were all a little shocked by it but on the same note happy for them as we all know that Don certainly isn't the first exec to marry his secretary on the show.

The next bomb that shocked me was the fact that Betty fired Carla after Carla had been working for them for like 10+ years...what the eff was that all about?  I mean, I know it was because of that creepy obnoxious kid from down the street but I mean seriously, he was there all of 5 minutes & the issues that Betty has with that kid all started with her giving him that lock of her hair & she just totally took it out on Carla.  If you ask me, Betty is in major need of therapy & some self confidence, I think she feels helpless in many ways & maybe like her new husband doesn't take care of her the way her old one did.  I don't know, I could be totally wrong but I don't see Betty & Henry lasting forever either.

The last news that shocked the hell out of me was Joan talking to her husband about the baby...the one she supposedly had aborted because it's Roger's & not her husbands.  There was some speculation after the abortion episode aired that maybe she didn't go through with it but given the fact that the kid wasn't her husbands I never once thought that maybe she didn't do it!

Speaking of Joan...I felt for her when they promoted her but didn't increase her pay...we've all been there Joan & it sucks to only sound more important while your budget doesn't afford you to look more important.  I also loved the little chat that her & Peggy had (while Peggy smoked which surprised me) about Don & Megan's news right after Peggy showed Don her concern & the fact that Don new she was concerned honestly made me tear up a bit.  I love the dynamic between Don & Peggy because I honestly think that she is the only woman he views as his equal & I think that he respects her & her choices & the fact that they both know so many of each others secrets just increases their bond so much more. If you didn't see the interaction between Don & Peggy & the conversation between Joan & Peggy that followed then you can see it here:

Is it a spoiler or not?

So I was on Facebook today & Mad Men posted a discussion about Ms. Blankenship's death & all these people went crazy complaining about the spoiler.  Honestly?  I of course commented & said "it's not a spoiler if the show aired 5 days ago" & people started going crazy!  People were bitching about the fact that they live in other countries & are a season behind, people were complaining that they just hadn't watched it yet, and some dumb girl said "anything discussed about the previous episode before the next episode airs is a spoiler".
Are these people insane?  I posted another note that said "Hollie, Betty has been remarried all season (some woman honestly thought she got married last Sunday) & to people who are complaining about spoilers for whatever reason...you shouldn't be following TV shows, the whole point of pages are to discuss the show & every episode of it that has already aired! TV in the U.S. is fair game once it has aired on the East & West Coasts. I agree with Lisa above (some other chick also bitching at the people bitching) that there should be U.S. & international pages."

So let me ask you guys...what constitutes a spoiler for you? To me a spoiler is anything leaked out prior to the airing of an episode so if I miss it I don't expect the whole world to not discuss something that I was too busy to watch.  Dancing with the Stars posts the info about who got voted off the next day so why is it so awful for Mad Men to post about something that happened 5 days ago?  I mean, it's one thing when you are out with your friends & they start talking about something you haven't seen yet & you tell them to zip it but the internet...you expect the internet to wait for you to catch up?  Good luck on that one!  Here's a spoiler for you...you are going to have a life full of utter disappointment if that's the way you think.
