Tonight at 8:00 on ABC it's the 28th season premiere of America's Funniest Home Videos, Disney has The Scariest Story Ever and on Smith it's the 2nd season finale of Mighty Cruise Ships.

Up at 9:00 on TLC it's the 5th season premiere of 90 Day Fiance, Hallmark has the 2nd season finale of Chesapeake Shores, HMC has Gourmet Detective, Smith has the 1st season finale of Mighty Trains, ABC has the time slot premiere of Shark Tank and on Travel it's the series premiere of Xtreme Screams.

At 10:00 on Discovery it's the 4th season premiere of Edge of Alaska, Showtime has the series finale of Episodes, Epix has the 1st season finale of Get Shorty, Travel has the series premiere of Haunted USA, TNT has the 4th season finale of The Last Ship, CBS has the 4th season premiere of Madam Secretary and E! has the season finale of WAGS Miami.  On Showtime at 10:30 it's the 2nd season finale of Dice.  At Midnight on Adult Swim it's a special Robot Chicken.

The Nineties season finale tonight

At 7:00 on NBC it's the U.S. Gymnastics Championships.  Up at 8:00 on Science it's How the Universe Works, A&E has a special Storage Wars while MTV has 2 episodes of Teen Wolf tonight.  

Up at 9:00 on PBS it's the 4th season premiere of Endeavour, HBO has a special Game of Thrones, HMC has Garage Sale Mystery, Food has the 8th season premiere of The Great Food Truck Race, History has The New Age of Terror, Smith has the 1st season finale of Inside Windsor Castle, TNT has the 4th season premiere of The Last Ship and on CNN it's the season finale of The Nineties.  Science has the special Great American Eclipse and at 9:30 on E! it's Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore.

On Hallmark at 10:00 it's the original telefilm At Home in Mitford, Travel has the series premiere of Caribbean Pirate Treasure, Showtime has the 5th season premiere of Episodes, Animal Planet has the 1st season finale of I Was Prey, ID has the 15th season finale of On the Case with Paula Zahn, Starz has the 4th season premiere of Survivor's Remorse and on E! it's the 2nd season premiere of WAGS Miami.

On HBO, Ballers is pushed back to 10:15, Insecure pushed to 10:45 and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will air at 11:15.  On Comedy at 11:30 it's the 2nd season finale of Legends of Chamberlain Heights.

The Royals premieres tonight

Tonight at 8:00 on HBO it's the 1st season finale of The Jinx then at 9:00 on ESPN it's a special 30 for 30, Travel has the series premiere of Breaking Borders and on E! it's the 10th season premiere of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Up at 10:00 on History it's the 1st season finale of Legend of the Superstition Mountains, Bravo has the 100th episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker and on E! it's the series premiere of The Royals.  At 10:30 on Showtime it's the 4th season finale of Episodes.

Girls is back tonight!

Talk about a busy night...let's get moving!  At 6:00, the E! Red Carpet coverage started for The Golden Globes, at 7:00 they started on NBC and then at 8:00 it's time for the big event...the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on NBC, hosted by Tina Fey & Amy Poehler!!

Also at 8:00 on Animal Planet it's a special North Woods Law, at 9:00 on HMC it's the original telefilm A Gift of Miracles, HBO has the 4th season premiere of Girls, Animal Planet has the 2nd season premiere of Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters and on Showtime it's the 5th season premiere of Shameless.

On HBO at 9:30 it's the series premiere of Togetherness and at 10:00 it's the 2nd season premiere of Looking, Showtime has the 4th season premiere of House of Lies, NGC has the series premiere of Remote Survival, TLC has the special My Husband's Not Gay, Cooking has the 5th season finale of Unique Sweets and at 10:30 on Showtime it's the 4th season premiere of Episodes.

Tonight at 8:00 on Chiller it's the special Killer Legends and MTV has the 2014 MTVU Woodie Awards.  Up at 9:00 on ESPN it's the special 30 for 30, Lifetime has the special Army Wives: A Final Salute, NBC has the time slot premiere of Believe, Bravo has the 1st season finale of Blood, Sweat & Heels, Discovery has the 2nd season premiere of Naked and Afraid and on E! it's the 2nd season premiere of Total Divas.

On H2 at 10:00 it's the series premiere of The Bible Rules, DIY has the 2nd season finale of Building Alaska and NBC has the series premiere of Crisis.  Up at 10:30 on Showtime it's the 3rd season finale of Episodes and at 10:32 on Discovery it's the series premiere of Naked after Dark.

True Detective premieres tonight

Today at 4:00 on E! it's the Countdown to the Red Carpet and on CBS at 4:40 it's the AFC Divisional Game.  On E! at 6:00 it's Live From the Red Carpet: The 2014 Golden Globes.

On NBC at 7:00 it's the Golden Globes arrival special.  Up at 8:00 on ABC it's The Bachelor: Behind the Scenes, Animal Planet has the series premiere of Beaver Brothers and NBC has The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards.  For a full list of nominees see my awards show post here.

Shameless returns to Showtime at 9:00, Oxygen has the 12th season premiere of Snapped, HBO has the series premiere of True Detective and on ID it's the 6th season premiere of Unusual Suspects.  At 10:00 on TLC it's the series premiere of 90 Day Fiance, Travel has the 1st season finale of America Declassified, HBO has the 3rd season premiere of Girls, Showtime has the 3rd season premiere of House of Lies and on PBS it's a special Sherlock.

Up at 10:30 on Showtime it's the 3rd season premiere of Episodes and on E! at 11:00 it's the special E! After Party: 2014 Golden Globes.

Sunday, January 12th...it's TV Overload Day!!!

On Sunday, January 12th I'm going to wish I had whole house DVR service & could record 5 shows at once.  I will have to get creative about scheduling all of my recordings, thank God for reruns!

At 8:00 it's The Golden Globes on NBC which will be on for at least 3 hours (plus the Red Carpet stuff before & after, ahhh!) and it doesn't rerun so I only have room for 1 other recording at the same time & the battles will begin at 9:00 when Shameless is back for its 4th season on Showtime & HBO has the series premiere of True Detective which I'm really looking forward to.  Then at 10:00 on HBO it's the 3rd season premiere of Girls and on Showtime it's the 3rd season premiere of House of Lies followed by the 3rd season premiere of Episodes at 10:30 but I don't watch that show so that saves me 30 minutes of shuffling.

True Blood finale is tonight...already!

Tonight at 7:00 it's the 1st season finale of Empire Girls on Style, followed by the second part of the two part reunion of Jerseylicious at 8:00.

At 9:00 on HBO it's the 5th season finale of True Blood...they must have started the season early this year or skipped a break or something because the season usually doesn't end until around Labor Day.  Anyway, I'm so sad it's ending as always & I really am going to miss having my Alcide fix every week.  

TNT has the 1st season finale of The Great Escape at 10:00, The Newsroom has it's 1st season finale on HBO.  At 10:30 on TruTV it's the 1st season finale of Combat Pawn & on Showtime it's the 2nd season finale of Episodes.  Then at 11:59 it's the 9th season finale of Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Adult Swim.

Weeds & Episodes return tonight

First off I'm going to say that I am very happy to hear that this season of Weeds is the last season but sadly, I still have no intent on watching it.  I have been extremely disappointed by this show for the last 4 seasons or so and while there is a slight intrigue to see how the show will close up after 8 years I don't know that I can sit through another six & a half hour season of unfunny so-called comedy.  I mean, this show took a major turn from funny to dark & desperate attempts at humor & intrigue after Agrestic burned down.  All of the funny characters were cut out of the show...Celia, Heylia, Conrad, Sanjay & Lupita were the funniest part of the show & they were all written out which ruined everything for me.

Also returning tonight for it's second season after more than a year hiatus is Episodes which Matt LeBlanc won an award for best comedic actor.  In the show he plays himself & I watched the first season & it's a comedy but it's not all that funny.  I mean, it has humor but it also some super serious stuff that I could do without so...I have no plan of watching the new season...I feel that a comedy should have at least 1 laugh out loud joke per episode & this doesn't offer that for me.  Showtime has the best original programming & the worst movies but I'm beginning to question these new shows too...I tried Web Therapy as well and it too was dumb.  Shows like Californication & Nurse Jackie know how to balance the funny with the serious so they should think about that with future "comedies".

Anyway, here's the TV lineup for tonight.  At 8:00 on PBS is the series premiere of Queen & Country and at 9:00 on DA is the 3rd season finale of BBQ Pit Masters.

At 10:00 on History is the series premiere of Shark Wranglers & on Showtime is the 8th & finale season premiere of Weeds.  At 10:30 on Showtime is the 2nd season premiere of Episodes.

At 11:00 on Bravo there is a special called 10 Things That Make Me Happy.  There isn't going to be much on tonight or the rest of the week due to it being a holiday week.
